Clint regarded the other man silently. It didn’t matter who it was that he wanted to kill, what he wanted to do. He wasn’t the man he was supposed to be— not that Barton knew a whole lot about the Barnes situation (the James situation?) to begin with, but he wasn’t supposed to be like this.

The thought of anyone having to face him made his blood run cold.

His nails dug into his palms. He knew he was lucky to be walking away from this encounter. Barton slowly backed away, lips still parted with unspoken words. What the hell had happened? Then he made a run for it. He had a report to make.

All enemy eyes were on the SHIELD headquarters at that moment. It would be far too easy for the Soldier to make his way in and unleash hell on the people in there. Especially, with his altercation with Agent Barton. They had to have been warned about something happening. A mock package had been passed around the group

Nothing to professional, but professional enough to get pass the guards And there he was, waiting in the main lobby of SHIELD’s headquarters waiting for the right moment in time to detonate devices and unload on the innocents.

Whenever that time came, it had to come soon.
